Since 2016, Stater Bros. Charities has proudly partnered with PepsiCo Rolling Remembrance to give back to Southern California communities through educational support. This year, they are excited to continue their investment in Southern California by pledging an additional $50,000 to continue benefiting Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation. Through this partnership, they have donated an impressive $350,000 to the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation, which provides essential scholarships and educational counseling to college students who have lost a parent in the military.

What is PepsiCo Rolling Remembrance?

First started by PepsiCo in 2015, Rolling Remembrance is a 8,000+ mile long relay of an American flag from Seattle to New York to benefit the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation. Using normal business routes, PepsiCo’s extensive network of U.S. Military Veteran drivers will pass off a flag to each other at different relay points. The flag was on a UH-60M Blackhawk Helicopter on a combat mission in support of U.S. and Coalition ground forces in the Kandahar Province of Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom in 2012. The Rolling Remembrance campaign occurs during April, Month of the Military Child and May, Military Appreciation Month.

What is Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation?

Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is dedicated to providing college scholarships and educational counseling to military children who have lost a parent in the line of duty. Their vision is to ensure that every child of a fallen military parent receives all necessary college funding. They believe that a college education is the single most important gift these children can receive. In addition, the foundation considers it to be an important investment in the future of the United States and one of the best ways we can honor those who passed in defense of our country.

Meet Anthony Pallanes, a recipient of the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation college scholarship.

Anthony is the son of U.S. Navy Petty Officer Third Class Jason Pallanes (left), who passed away in 2004. Anthony describes his dad as a “thoughtful and caring person, someone who would give you the shirt off from his back if asked.”

In Anthony Pallanes’ (right) final year of college, his VA benefits ran out of funding and was in need of $40,000 to cover the remainder of his tuition. “Had it not been for the generosity of the foundation and it’s donors, I’m not sure if college would have been a realistic expectation,” said Anthony. With financial assistance from foundation’s scholarship, he graduated debt free with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Azusa Pacific University in 2020.

There are approximately 25,000 children who have lost a parent in the line of duty over the past 35 years. The vision of Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation is to ensure that every such child receives all necessary college funding.
