It’s the most wonderful time of the year! With tons of different parties and events this time of year, things can get hectic and let’s be honest – a little expensive! Sometimes it’s nice to stay in and have a cute gathering with homemade drinks rather than go out and splurge.
Here’s a collection of fun adult drink ideas that you can make at home this holiday season! This time of year is known for its cranberry, cinnamon, and peppermint flavors. You can incorporate any of those flavors into these drinks to make them more festive and cozy.
Fall Red Wine Sangria
Sangrias are a Spanish drink made with red wine, lemonade, fruit and varying spices. This Sangria is classified as a fall drink, but with its cinnamon and apple flavor profiles, we’re bringing it along through December as well! Afterall, National Sangria Day is December 20th.
Ingredients
- 2 Apples, cored and sliced
- 2 Bosc Pears, cored and sliced
- 1 bottle of Josh Cellars Legacy Red Blend
- 2 Cups of Stater Bros. Apple Juice
- 1/4 cup of Bourbon
- 3 to 4 Cinnamon Sticks
- 2 to 3 Star Anise
- Ice
Directions
Add the sliced apples, sliced pears, cinnamon sticks and star anise to a large pitcher.
Add ice and then pour in the Josh Cellars Legacy Red Blend, the apple juice and the bourbon.
Stir and refrigerate for about 3 hours to let the flavors infuse.
Add ice to a wine glass and pour in the sangria. Garnish with slices of apple and pear.
Something Old, Made New
When it’s cold outside and you’re in need of some warming up, nothing sounds better than a cup of Hot Chocolate. Now take your normal cup of hot chocolate and add some Bailey’s Irish Liquor or some RumChata Peppermint Bark for an adult twist on a classic holiday necessity.
Another classic drink this time of year is Apple Cider, try out this Apple Cider Mimosa recipe for a warm and cozy, cinnamon-y drink that will be sure to put you in the holiday spirit. All you need is Prosecco, Apple Cider, and if you’re feelin’ fancy you can create a caramel sugar rim for the glass. A simple and tasty spin on a beloved holiday drink. If you’re not someone who likes to drink iced drinks in the winter, mix it up and try warm apple cider with a dash of bourbon or whiskey. That’ll warm you up from your head to your toes real quick!
Ring in the New Year with this Lemon Drop Champagne drink recipe! A sugary and luxurious combination of two classic holiday drinks, is sure to make your night a memorable one.
Ingredients
- Your Choice of Vodka – We used Ketel One
- Your Choice of Champagne – We used Barefoot
- Sugar
- Lemon Juice
Directions
Mix your preferred amounts of Vodka and 1/2 a lemon’s worth of juice and sugar.
Strain the lemon juice and vodka and top off with champagne and a sugar rim for extra flare.
You can adjust the quantities of each item depending on your preferences and tolerance!
Boozy Snacks
They aren’t drinks, but these Boozy Strawberries and Prosecco Grapes are too good to not be included here! Plus, you can take advantage of the holiday wine/liquor sale that we currently have running. These adult fruit snack ideas are perfect for a relaxed night in, but be careful – these little guys are addicting and before you know it, you’ve eaten half the bowl!
Mix Ketel One Peach and Orange Blossom Vodka, Cointreau, and lemon juice in a bowl.
Poke strawberries with a toothpick so the mixture can seep into the strawberries. Soak berries in alcohol mix and sprinkle with sugar.
