American Heart Association Since 2002, Stater Bros. has conducted a “Have A Heart, Save A Heart” campaign each February. Customers and employees at all Stater Bros. Supermarkets purchase paper hearts of $1 or $5 denominations. To date, over $2 million has been raised to help fight heart disease and stroke, the no. 1 and no. 3 causes of death in America. American Red Cross When a natural disaster strikes, Stater Bros. is quick to respond with volunteers, product donations and funds. Stater Bros. (along with its customers and vendors) has contributed $3 million to assist with disaster relief since 2001 and has proudly presented checks to support the recovery efforts for the September 11th attacks, the Southeast Asia Tsunami, Hurricane Katrina and the devastating Southern California Wildfires in 2003 and 2007. Food Banks Stater Bros. donates over 3 million pounds each year of unsold items that are still healthy and fit for consumption to the two local Inland Empire Food Banks (Second Harvest Food Bank in Riverside www.secondharvest.org and the San Bernardino County Food Bank www.sbcounty.gov/capsbc/foodbank.htm. ) In San Diego County, Stater Bros. donates directly to local community food programs.
Holiday Giving Program During Thanksgiving, Stater Bros. makes substantial contributions towards the purchase of turkeys for local non-profit organizations and food banks. During Christmas, Stater Bros. partners with local agencies and places food bins in nearly all of its Supermarket locations. In addition, toys are distributed to local hospitals, children’s organizations and law enforcement agencies, and over 100 Stater Bros. Loma Linda University Children's Hospital Stater Bros. has helped to raise over $2 million for Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital. The Kfroggers for Kids Radiothon, which is now hosted by Stater Bros. Charities, raises over $500,000 each year for Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital. In 2007, Stater Bros. in conjunction with Procter and Gamble donated $300,000 to Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital to create the new “Stater Bros. Activity Center.” This movie theater themed room will help the hospital attract more first-run screenings for new family movies and will be used by young patients and their families on a regular basis. San Bernardino County Sheriff’s PRCA Pro-Rodeo Stater Bros. is a corporate sponsor of this annual rodeo, which is held in conjunction with a huge “camporee” for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Over 400 cowboys and cowgirls compete in the rodeo, and over 5,000 scouts and leaders participate in the camporee. This 3-day event in Devore has an estimated attendance of 17,000. (in partnership with Pepsi, Frito-Lay, Gatorade and Tropicana) is the title sponsor for the Stater Bros. 300 NASCAR Busch Series Race in February at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana. Stater Bros. Route 66 Rendezvous - Since its inception in 1989, this 4-day automotive street faire has continued to attract classic car enthusiasts from across the nation. Held in the streets of downtown San Bernardino the third weekend in September, this event has attendance in excess of 600,000 and there are over 2,000 classic vehicles on display.
