Stater Bros. Charities and Inland Women Fighting Cancer to host "Fancy Bras and Ties-of-Support" contest in Downtown Redlands to raise awareness for 4th Annual Believe Walk which will be held on Sunday, October 2nd. More than 8,000 walkers are expected to line the streets of Redlands for this event.

San Bernardino, California (Wednesday, August 17, 2011) -

Stater Bros. Charities and Inland Women Fighting Cancer are encouraging community members from throughout the Inland Empire to submit a decorated bra or a tie to raise awareness about all cancers (including those that specifically affect men) as well as to promote the upcoming Believe Walk on Sunday, October 2nd in downtown Redlands.

Entries should be been dropped off at J.D. Meyers, 122 East State Street in Redlands, from August 15th through September 16th. All the donated bras and ties will be on display at J.D. Meyers during this time period, and the winning entries will be judged on Friday, September 30th. A weekend getaway to South Coast Winery in Temecula and other fabulous prizes will be awarded to the winners of this contest.

The decorated bras and ties will also be placed on the ‘support van’ that will be included in the Believe Walk festivities to ‘support’ the Walkers as they stroll the streets of Historic Redlands.

In addition, local Redlands businesses have been encouraged to raise awareness for the Believe Walk by decorating their store fronts with festive window displays and messages of inspiration. These businesses will also be judged on Friday, September 30th on creativity and awareness surrounding the event.

Local community leaders and cancer survivors Annie Sellas, Cathy Stockton, and Nancy Varner envisioned doing something in the community to raise awareness about cancer. During treatments, they had been each other’s support group and decided to do something for local Inland women facing the same prognosis. Inland Women Fighting Cancer, a coalition of friends, fellow survivors and supporters was formed.
